Judge Dredd fan film teaser trailer released

With the official Judge Dredd film starring Karl Urban to look forward to amateur director Steven Sterlacchini might have just picked the right time to create his own Dredd fan film.

Sterlacchini has just posted a teaser trailer to his film Judge Minty, a Dredd spin-off which follows a veteran Judge as he takes the ‘Long Walk’ into the Cursed Earth to bring law to the lawless.

I was lucky enough to see some of the footage when I met up with Sterlacchini a few weeks ago and even got to try on the iconic Dredd costume myself. Sterlacchini is passionate about his project and told me that the footage he has ready is still not quite the finished article and more CGI special effects will be layered onto the film.

I was shown a few of the techniques the filmmaker has employed on the production, it’s hard to believe that the scenes in the trailer were filmed in and around Sheffield.

The 20 minute film should see a full release later this year or the start of 2011, to keep updated and see stills and props from the film go to the official website: Judge Minty.
