Takeru Kobayashi chomped his way to victory this weekend at the Pie Pizza Eating Competition held in Ontario.
This was the first eating event Kobayashi has taken part in since the drama at this year’s Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest when the former world champion was arrested after he invaded the stage.
The Japanese gurgitator has refused to sign a contract with Major League Eating and so will not be able to compete in any of their events. He was able to compete this weekend though in Canada where he managed to scoff 10 whole pizzas, each cut into four slices, in just 12 minutes. Second place went to “Furious Pete” Czerwinski who manged just 29 slices of pizza, or 7.25 pizzas, which is a bit disappointing from the man who holds the world record for eating a 72oz steak in under seven minutes.
Kobayashi might have been dropped by the International Federation of Competitive Eating but he has had all criminal charges against him dropped for the stage invasion at the hot dog contest, and this weekend he walked away with $1,500 in prize money.
