Pit latrine
Tina Agyei denies flushing the baby, or even giving birth, despite medical examinations proving otherwise.
The drama unfolded at an all-night service held at a church in Ashaiman. During the service the church founder Apostle Matthew Antwi claims to have had a vision that Agyei was pregnant, but her mother denied the pregnancy.
Antwi says he decided to keep a close eye on Agyei and ordered his ushers to watch her. Later one of the ushers reported that Agyei was missing and all that remained was a trail of blood from where she had been lying.
The ushers followed the blood and found Agyei with her mother, bleeding heavily from her vagina. Both women denied any pregnancy or of giving birth but claimed that the daughter was suffering from thrush. She was taken to hospital and doctors confirmed that she had recently given birth, but Agyei still denies the fact.
Six hours later a member of the church congregation heard the sound of a baby crying coming from the pit latrine. The septic tank was opened and the newborn baby was discovered covered in maggots and faeces.
The baby was taken to Tema general Hospital and is now in intensive care along with the mother.

It is not unusual to find a human foetus in a septic tank when it is emptied.
