Close to 800 people gathered in Sheffield this weekend to set the world record for the biggest ever space hopper race.

In total 771 took part in the record breaking event, including actress Jodie Whittaker from St Trinian’s and forthcoming flick Attack the Block. The event was organised by Yorkshire Cancer Research and has been verified by Guinness World of Records, everyone taking part will receive a certificate from Guinness. The organisers managed to raise £50,000 from the race, held at the Don Valley Bowl and the money will be split between three charities, Yorkshire Cancer Research, Weston Park Hospital and Cavendish Cancer Care.

“The sun was shining and it was very special day. We had all ages taking part, from a retired 70-year-old to six-year-old schoolchildren.” Emma Young, from Yorkshire Cancer Research said.

“It was a fantastic effort by everybody and, although it was an extremely long and hard race, we did it.”
