A couple of images of the main stars of the brand new Sherlock Holmes mini-series for the BBC have been released.
The show is simply titled Sherlock and is a modern day re-imagining of Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic tales by the talent behind Doctor Who.
Benedict Cumberbatch, who recently appeared in the Chris Morris satire Four Lions is starring as Sherlock Holmes, and The Office and Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy star Martin Freeman will play his loyal companion Dr Watson.
The show has been created by Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat, the pair obviously well known for their work on Doctor Who together, but Gatiss is still well loved for his work with The League of Gentlemen and Moffat for his previous shows Coupling and Jekyll. The series is being directed by Paul McGuigan who previously directed the superhero movie Push and also action movie Lucky Number Slevin. If all this wasn’t good enough, David Arnold has scored the soundtrack and Rupert Graves and Una Stubbs are also cast in it.
The show will be broadcast as three 90-minute episodes in the last week of July, on the BBC.
