WitchA woman accused of witchcraft was beaten and burned to death by a lynch mob after a man said he saw her in a dream.

23-year-old Sule Nuhu told his father that he had dreamt that Kombian Tagun had been chasing him. The father, Sule Kumog immediately interpreted the dream as witchcraft and went to confront Konbain.

Unsurprisingly Kombain denied the accusations of witchcraft, but this seems to have only angered the father and he left to organise a lynch mob. The mob returned and beat Kombain to the ground before setting her on fire. After they realised the woman was dead the gang fled to a nearby village but police managed to track down Sule Nuhu and his father and have arrested them both.

Chief Inspector Ebenezer Tetteh confirmed the attack and said the woman’s remains had been taken to the Nalerigu Baptist Hospital.
