A clinic in Zimbabwe had to close down for two weeks after it’s staff fled as a result of goblin attacks. Traditional healers were called in to exorcise the building.
Nurses at the clinic in Makande are vital in the fight against malaria, but due to the alleged goblin attacks on them they refused to enter the building until the goblins were taken care of.
“We were not expecting goblins to attack nurses who are trying hard to reduce malaria outbreak here. It’s unfortunate for us” one villager said.
And due to Zimbabwe’s Witchcraft Suppression Act it made dealing with the goblins even more difficult.
“Attacking nurses with goblins leave us vulnerable. Goblin owners do not accept payments to their demands. You can’t force them to accept the payments because of the Witchcraft Suppression Act. It’s a complicated issue” a primary school teacher from Makande explained.
The village chief, Musampakaruma took steps to solve the situation by hiring a team of witch-hunters, or tsikamutandas to expose the owners of the goblins. The clinic has now reopened.
