The Scots have taken back the title for the world’s largest bowl of porridge.
Organisers at the annual Cupar Highland Games in Fife were assisted by a team of firefighters during their record breaking feat. The firefighters were called in to provide hundreds of litres of water with their fire engine that were then mixed in with 80kg of oats to create the mammoth porridge.
Guinness World of Records were at hand to confirm the previous record had been broken, after the porridge was slowly cooked for several hours the resulting bowl contained a massive 690 litres of porridge, which weighed 630kg, enough to feed 2,000 hungry Scotsmen.
“We have achieved our goal of breaking the record and put Cupar back on the map,” Craig Manson, chairman of Cupar Round Table, which runs the Highland Games, told the BBC.
