Scientists in Iran have unveiled a bipedal android that they intend to use for “sensitive jobs”.
The Iranian government would not expand on what they meant by sensitive jobs, but a tell tale sign could be the fact the machine, called Surena-2 is named after an ancient Persian warrior. The robot, which is 1.45m tall and weighs 45kg was unveiled personally by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad yesterday.
The report in Iran’s government newspaper says that the robot can walk like a human being with regular leg and arm movements, and that it will be used in sensitive and difficult jobs on behalf of a person or as help.
