The 22nd Annual World’s Ugliest Dog Contest was held yesterday at the Marin-Sonoma Fair in California, and was won by a chihuahua.

4-year-old Princess Abby Francis, an odd looking chihuahua with a curved spine and lazy left eye beat a pack of contenders which included last year’s winner Pabst, a boxer cross with a tremendous underbite.

The contest has long been dominated by the weird looking Chinese Crested breed who always make an impression. So it was nice to see that for the second year in a row the judges haven’t gone for the obvious choice. Vets at the contest commented that Princess Abby’s prize winning looks were probably the result of inbreeding.

“She’s a poster child to spay and neuter your pets,” celebrity vet Karen “Doc” Halligan said.

Princess Abby’s owner, Kathleen Francis says she rescued the pooch just five months ago and doesn’t think she is ugly at all.

“I think she’s the most beautiful dog.” she said as she walked away with the $1,000 prize money.
