Robin Hood star Russell Crowe is reported to have attached himself with the long running project to make a movie version of the 80s TV show The Equalizer.

Remakes from the 1980s are very fashionable at the moment, The Karate Kid remake has just flown up the box office charts, and the A-Team movie is also doing quite well. The planning of an Equalizer movie has been going on for about the past five years, but in the current climate and with Russell Crowe on board it seems more likely than ever that the deal will be finalised soon.

The original TV show starred Edward Woodward as Robert McCall, a mysterious secret agent with a shady past in an unknown security agency. McCall becomes the Equalizer and offers his services free of charge to desperate people in trouble, in an apparent attempt to atone for past sins.
