Jawless Girl Receives New Face

22 year old Wang Na from Shaanxi Province in China was born with no upper jaw and had a “sunken face” from the forehead down.

Na was abandoned by her parents as a baby and adopted by a couple who spent years searching for a hospital which would help her lead a normal life. The Oral Hospital under the Fourth Military Medical University, in Xi’an agreed to help Na when she was 18 and has been treating her for the past four years. Now new photos show what an amazing job they’ve done building Na a new jaw and reconstructing her face.

Now for the first time in her life Na is able to eat solid food and has begun speech therapy to learn to talk.
