4′ 1″ Kiran Shah has been recognised by Guinness World of Records as the world’s shortest stuntman since 2003, and now the diddy actor can boast to being officially the world’s shortest wingwalker.
Shah first broke into acting in the 1970s when he performed stunts in the David Niven adventure Candleshoe, since then he’s appeared in a vast array of fantasy films and is easily recognised from his performance in The Chronicles of Narnia as the White Queen’s vicious little dwarf. But Shah’s credits also include Ridley Scott’s Legend, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Dark Crystal and he was even an Ewok in Return of the Jedi.
Shah’s stuntman credits run as long as your arm, he was even Elijah Wood’s stunt double in The Lord of the Rings, and is rumoured to have secured work on the new Hobbit films.
To add to his list of achievements this week Shah became the world’s shortest wingwalker, officially recognised by Guinness. The diminutive actor was strapped on top of a 1940s Boeing Spearman biplane for ten minutes as the plane flew at breakneck speeds at an altitude of 1,000ft.
“It was great, I loved it – but next time I’ll pick a warmer day” the fall guy told the Sun.
“It was very cold up there. The wind was coming at me all the time and I could hardly lift my arms because of the g-force.”
“I was nervous until I had the safety briefing. Once I know what I’m doing it’s ok – it’s the same with any stunt.
“I’m not bothered by heights because I’ve done high falls before. Flying is no problem for me either. I love any kind of action. The more dangerous the better.”
Mary Oladapo of Guinness World Records said: “Kiran once again proves that size isn’t everything even the smallest of people can achieve the greatest of things.”
