A death metal singer from Germany has been told by education officials that he must quit his band or lose his future in teaching.
29 year old Thomas “The Bloodbeast” Gurrath is the sole and founder member of death ‘n’ roll band Debauchery, and a trainee teacher. The band kicked off in 2000 with the name Maggotcunt, but changed to the current moniker in 2002. Gurrath formed the band with drummer Dani, but became a solo act after an onstage punch-up with the drummer.
Gurrath is signed to AFM records and has released six albums which he sings vocals on and plays bass and lead guitar as well as producing. Session musicians are hired to complete the recordings and a live band, the Kill Team accompany him onstage.
Recently a colleague at the school in Stuttgart where The Bloodbeast is working stumbled on the musicians website and informed the educational authorities. After checking out Gurrath’s albums, with names like Rage of the Bloodbeast and Torture Pit, and the blood soaked naked ladies which adorn the covers, the German authorities told Gurrath he has to cease and desist from his music career or give up hopes of becoming a teacher.
Gurrath is so far defiant, and told the squares to get stuffed.
