German Postman Marries His Cat

A postman in Germany has married his 15 year old cat, saying he wanted to marry her quickly before she dies.

39 year old Uwe Mitzscherlich was married to his feline pet Cecilia at a faux wedding ceremony which was officiated by an actress. Marrying an animal is illegal in Germany, so Mr Mitzscherlich paid actress Christin-Maria Lohri £260 to perform the unofficial ceremony.

“At first I thought it was a joke. But for Mr Mitzscherlich it’s a dream come true” the actress said.

The happy couple dressed appropriately for the wedding, and the groom’s twin brother Erik was best man. Mr Mitzscherlich and Cecilia have been living in sin for the past ten years, but a vet recently told Uwe that Cecilia may only have a short time left due to her asthma.

“Cecilia is such a trusting creature. We cuddle all the time and she has always slept in my bed,” Mr Mitzscherlich told Bild.
