Joey Chestnut chewed his way to victory this afternoon at the World CheeseSteak Eating Championship held at Dorney Park in Pennsylvania.
The Major League Eating sanctioned event took place at 13:30 this afternoon and several big name eaters turned up to see if they could beat the world’s number one, Joey Chestnut.
They were all out of luck today though, as Chestnut devoured a whole 19 six inch long Philly cheesesteaks in ten minutes flat and walked away with the $1,500 first prize. Second place went to Bob Shoudt, who celebrated his recent promotion to second place on the MLE official ranking by downing an impressive 16 cheesesteaks. In third place was Timothy Janus who managed a respectable 14.5 sandwiches, and just outside the top three was Juliet Lee, the only woman to compete managed to eat 12.5 cheesesteaks and beat off 11 men in the process.
