Ali Hussain SibatThe lawyer representing Lebanese TV clairvoyant, Ali Hussain Sibat has told the Associated Press that her client will not be executed for his crimes.

May El Khansa reported that Lebanese justice minister, Ibrahim Najja had met with the Saudi ambassador to Beirut today and he had been assured that the beheading of Ali Sibat would not take place.

Sibat was arrested in Saudi Arabia in 2008 whilst on an Islamic pilgrimage. In his native home of Lebanon Sibat presents a cable TV show where he supposedly predicts the future in order to give advice to his audience. When he arrived in Saudi he was arrested by the Mutawa’een, or religious police and charged with sorcery. He was found guilty in November last year and sentenced to death, since that time his lawyer and several human rights organisations have been lobbying the Saudi authorities to stop his execution.
