Boobs on BikesThe infamous Boobs on Bikes parade is upsetting folk in New Zealand again because it is scheduled to run the same weekend as a national day of remembrance.

Pornographer Steve Crow has scheduled his topless parade through the streets of Palmerston North, Levin and Whanganui for Friday 23rd April, and his Erotica Expo will run all that weekend. The 25th April is known as Anzac Day in New Zealand and Australia, it is a day of remembrance held annually to honour members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought at Gallipoli in Turkey during the First World War.

Crow has defended the timing of the parade, but some veterans have expressed their anger towards it.

“I think it is terrible,” said one war veteran.

City officials have also expressed their unhappiness with the timing of the parade, but say that their hands are tied on the matter.

“I think it is particularly distasteful wanting to do this kind of thing on Anzac day,” Jono Naylor, the mayor of Palmerston North said.

“I know our community on the whole is not supportive of that, but at the end of the day we are bound by law.”

But Crow says he had no choice but to hold his Expo on Anzac weekend, and that he is exercising the freedoms that these veterans had gone to war to protect.

“These are the guys that went to war 50, 60 years ago. They fought for the freedoms that we as a society now enjoy. One of those freedoms is to be able to do things like Boobs on Bikes or Erotica Expo.” Crow explained.
