An oddball Israeli polygamist, and alleged cult leader has been charged with several counts of sexual abuse after three of his 21 wives came forward to report him.

Goel Ratzon, who lived with 32 women and dozens of children in Tel Aviv was arrested last month but only just charged today after a long police inquiry. The 60 year old guru is accused of brainwashing his victims into believing he possesses supernatural powers, he then used this status of super-being to rape and abuse dozens of women and young girls.

According to the police Ratzon managed to convince his many wives and female companions that he possessed the ability to control their health, and allegedly threatened to inflict terrible diseases on them and their children if they didn’t do his bidding. As part of Ratzon’s brainwashing system he forced the women to have his name tattooed on their bodies and also to change their names and break all contact with the outside world, including their own families.

Over a number of years Ratzon built his harem of 32 women and sired 49 children with them. During this time he is also accused of abusing two underage girls, one of which he raped on a daily basis from the age of 15 to 17. During the molestation of one young girl in the shower Ratzon is reported to have told her, “you’ll get used to it” after she complained he was hurting her.

On top of the rape and abuse charges Ratzon is also accused of using his power over the women to extort money from them. Appearing in court today Ratzon claimed he is innocent of all charges, his son, Yigal Ratzon also spoke out for his father’s innocence.

“I have said this entire time that I don’t believe any of these charges against my father and I say it again today”, Yigal told reporters.
