Tobey Maguire Lands Hobbit Role

Spider-Man star Tobey Maguire is reported to be the new Bilbo Baggins.

The Sun has reported today that Maguire has been in talks with producer Peter Jackson and director Guillermo del Toro and he has been offered the part of the starring role in the new Hobbit movie. 34 year old Maguire last week quit the Spider-Man franchise because the last movie was pretty shit.

But now it looks like he might have had a bigger reason to quit on Spidey.

Maguire was first linked to the new Hobbit movie at the end of last year, but those rumours were squashed when Maguire said he’d had no contact with Jackson or del Toro.

Filming of The Hobbit is due to begin in New Zealand this summer, the first of the two planned films will be released in 2011.
