OttoOtto, the World’s Oldest Dog has died aged 20 years old. That’s 140 in dog years.

Otto, a dachshund cross terrier was officially recognised as the World’s Oldest Dog by Guinness World of Records in October last year. Sadly on Thursday Otto was put to sleep by a vet after a large tumour was discovered in the dog’s stomach. Otto’s owner Lynn Jones, from Shrewsbury, Shropshire said that Otto had been ill for a few weeks but everyone was hoping it was only a stomach ulcer which was causing the illness.

”We found out yesterday that he had a very large tumour in his stomach and last night I felt that he was trying to tell us something.

”He couldn’t sit or lie down comfortably and he was trying to tell us that he’d had enough, so we made the decision to end his suffering and took him to the vet this morning.” Mrs Jones said on Thursday.

”He died at 10.10am and I feel like I’ve lost my right arm.”
