Leverage Comes To The UK

Leverage, the hit US TV show which airs on cable channel TNT in the States has been picked up by British satellite channel Bravo and will begin broadcasting season one this month.

The show is pretty much an American remake of the British TV show Hustle which starred Robert Vaughn as a con artist leading a team of thieves and grifters who pull off remarkable heists. Leverage claims to be Hustle, with a twist.

The group of thieves are led by Nathan Ford, played by Academy Award winner Timothy Hutton. Ford is a former insurance fraud investigator who turns to leading a bunch of modern day Robin Hoods as they carry out elaborate scams which target fat cat, greedy and corrupt companies.

The cast also features Brit actress Gina Bellman who coincidentally starred in the UK version of Friends, Coupling. If you’re really keen eyed you might even remember Gina from Grange Hill in 1984, when she played Trudy. Christian Kane the really annoying lawyer, Lindsey McDonald from Buffy spin-off Angel also stars. I’m really hoping Kane’s character in Leverage is an improvement on the sulking lawyer he played in Angel, he seemed really wasted in that show and came off as a complete cock.

Season one of Leverage begins on Bravo at 21:00 on Wednesday 20th January. Bravo have also secured season two of the show, where Star Trek fans can look forward to Jeri Ryan joining the cast. I know I am.
