British actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw has been picked to star as the female lead in J.J. Abrams’ brand new drama series, Undercovers.
Mbatha-Raw is probably best known for playing Tish Jones, the sister of Martha Jones in the 2007 series of Doctor Who, and she also had a recurring role in the fifth season of Spooks.
Undercovers has been commissioned by NBC and Abrams will be directing the pilot episode, it is described as a spy drama involving a married couple who are both secret agents. Mbatha-Raw has been cast as Samantha Bloom, and Resident Evil: Afterlife and Starship Troopers 3 star Boris Kodjoe will be playing her husband, Steven Bloom.
