Angus at Oak Tree Cottage
Mrs Whitehead told us how on New Year’s Day morning at approximately 08:30 she spotted a large black cat, similar to a panther, prowling through the snow at the rear of Oak Tree Cottage Park Farm on Tunbeck Rd, Wortwell.
“My dog was barking one morning and I went out to see what was wrong and saw a big black cat like a panther across the yard” Mrs Whitehead told us.
“It was on the snow so was very clear, it ran off into the woods. It really spooked me.”
The alarm was raised by seven month old Angus, Mrs Whitehead’s West Highland terrier. There is a farmer’s field at the back of Oak Tree Cottage which the cat was walking across, when it realised it had been spotted it headed for cover in the woods at the edge of the field. Mrs Whitehead and her husband later investigated further and discovered a clear set of tracks leading across the field.
This latest report brings the total to at least 14 sightings since November 2007. I have updated the map below which shows all reported sightings in the Norfolk area.
