Glastonbury Festival organiser Michael Eavis has been named as Beard of the Decade by the Beard Liberation Front, beating communist bully-boy Fidel Castro into second place.
The BLF have announced their Beard of the Year for the past 15 years, strangely in all that time the accolade has never been won by Noel Edmonds, so the nomination process isn’t without fault. In 2007 Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin fame won with his mediocre whiskers, and this year the campaign group have plumped for a hideous chin-strap.
”Michael Eavis is a true hirsute icon of the Noughties and he beat Castro to the accolade by the merest whisker.” BLF organiser Keith Flett told The Telegraph.
Eavis’ Lincoln-esque fizzog is easily recognisable as the face of the Glastonbury Festival, the 74 year old dairy farmer is said to be greatly honoured by his new title.
