Dede Koswara, the Indonesian ‘Tree Man’ has revealed that the ugly growths covering his body are worsening.

Dede has been blighted since childhood with this strange condition which causes bark-like growths to cover his body. The growths make his hands useless and walking painful, they’ve led to his wife leaving him and friends and neighbours shunning him. Unable to work for a living Dede joined a freak show and exhibited himself in order to survive.

Last year American dermatologist, Dr. Anthony Gaspari diagnosed Dede’s condition as being an extreme case of the sexually transmitted disease human pappilomavirus. Due to a genetic disorder Dede’s immune system is simply unable to fight off what is a fairly common and innocuous virus and so the warts run rampant on his skin.

Dr Gaspari surgically removed over 6kg of warts from Dede and gave him the correct medication to destroy the warts. Sadly the treatment does not appear to be working, Dede once again needs care assistance as his hands are too deformed to function properly.

“Those (warts) that were removed are growing again and started to reappear after I returned home,” he told the Metro.
