Two police officers in Canada are being hailed as heroes after saving the life of a baby who was born into a toilet bowl.
32 year old Heather Richard from Winnipeg says she didn’t even know she was pregnant when she went to the toilet and and gave birth into the loo.
“It just fell out. I thought it was my intestines, so I’m freaking out,” Richard told CNEWS.
As luck would have it two police officers had just arrived to arrest Heather Richard on outstanding warrants. When they heard the commotion they went to investigate and one officer plucked the tiny new born from the bog and began resuscitation. Richard was sat on the rim of the bath tub, the bathroom was covered in blood, the baby’s legs were sticking out of the toilet and it’s head was below the waterline.
Thanks to the quick thinking officers the baby was successfully resuscitated and taken to hospital where it is being treated for a fractured skull after it’s head hit the porcelain.
The officer who performed CPR on the infant has been prescribed medication because of the risk of bodily fluid contamination from giving mouth to mouth to a baby that had been in the toilet.
