The release date for Resident Evil: Afterlife has been pushed back from mid-2010 to early 2011.
The fourth installment from the Resident Evil franchise was due to be released around August/September next year, filming is currently underway. The reason given for the delay is that Resident Evil: Afterlife will be produced in 3D, by the same team working on James Cameron’s Avatar no less.
This means that there will be more time needed post-production to add the finishing touches to the movie. Because of this the release has been pushed back to January 2011, and will put the film head to head against Joss Whedon’s long awaited horror flick The Cabin in the Woods, which is also going to be in 3D.
I’m not especially taken with all this 3D nonsense, I’d have preferred it if they’d just get a move on and release the damned thing.
Just to remind readers Milla Jovovich and Ali Larter are reprising their roles in the franchise, and they will be joined this outing by Prison Break’s Wentworth Miller.
