John Barrowman who plays Captain Jack Harkness in Torchwood yesterday confirmed that the show will be returning and it will be back to 13 weekly episodes.
The third season of Torchwood was written as a five part miniseries which went out on consecutive nights. Children of Earth proved to be a huge success, but many fans wanted to see a return to the traditional weekly format. In an interview on Steve Wright’s afternoon radio show on BBC Radio 2 to promote his new DVD Barrowman revealed that season four would have 13 episodes and the production company are currently organising the logistics of the filming schedule.
Barrowman didn’t reveal anything else about Torchwood but when prompted he did suggest that he will not be returning to Doctor Who when new boy Matt Smith takes over in the new year.
“I don’t know about Captain Jack’s future in Doctor Who because nothing has been said or I haven’t been asked. I am kind of prepared that I won’t be in any of it, which is fine.” Barrowman said.
