100 Italians at the Festival of the Mandarin in Taranto have set a new world record by squeezing over 5,000 lbs of oranges to produce 697 litres of juice.
The event organisers say that all 5,000 spectators at the festival got a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice to enjoy.
“We had 5,000 spectators who all got a glass of very freshly squeezed orange juice when we’d finished.”
The juice was prepared in a 200 metre long trough which the orange crushers filled with the juice from the fruits. The 5,000 spectators all gave a contribution to a cancer charity.
The record is recognised by the World Records Academy.
