Meatball Eating Championship

In a close run contest competitive eating legend Joey Chestnut managed to gorge his way to victory at this weekend’s Martorano’s Masters Meatball Eating Championship held in Las Vegas.

Chestnut managed to stuff his face with 50 meatballs in just ten minutes, that’s 6.25lbs of meatball. The number one competitive eater in the world was closely followed by Pat Bertoletti who managed to guzzle 49 meatballs in the allocated time. Third place went to Sonya “the Black Widow” Thomas who managed 42 meatballs at this first ever Martorano’s Masters event which was fully endorsed by the International Federation of Competitive Eating.

Chestnut took away $1,500 in prize money for finishing in first place.

A new face on the competitive eating scene was Baywatch star Angelica Bridges, in her debut at competitive eating Bridges managed to take tenth place (last) by gobbling 10 meatballs. The Playboy cover girl received encouragement from the event organisers.

“Angelica should be very proud of herself,” said Mike Antolini from IFOCE.

“She competed in a tough field and held her own. She is always welcome to the Major League Eating table and I hope to see her again at next year’s Martorano’s Masters.”
