Tom Hardy Is The New Mad Max

Despite rumours that Australian actor Sam Worthington was about to be named as the new Max Rockatansky, The Hollywood Reporter has named Tom Hardy as the new Mad Max.

Hardy who recently starred in Bronson, the biopic of Britain’s most dangerous prisoner was linked to the project last week but a day later Australia’s Daily Telegraph reported that Hardy had been passed on in favour of the more suitable Worthington. One thing that has remained constant is Charlize Theron playing the female lead.

Shooting is still set to begin in Australia next summer and George Miller who has written the script and will also co-produce and direct the feature has stated that Fury Road will be set shortly after the Thunderdome story. So this is not a remake, reboot or prequel, which makes quite a change.

For anyone who can’t wait to see Charlize Theron roaming a post apocalyptic wilderness in Fury Road you can catch her starring alongside Viggo Mortensen in The Road when it is released in the UK on 8th January 2010.
