A couple in Illinois got a bizarre surprise yesterday when they found a two headed snake hiding in a chest of drawers in their home.

Jerry Williamson’s wife was routing through a drawer used to store bits of junk and all that kind of stuff you never throw out when she found the two headed serpent hiding in the bottom. At first Mr Williamson simply couldn’t believe it, but the snake was alive and well and had just shed it’s skin.

The Williamsons have decided to keep the reptile, believed to be a North American water snake as a pet as they feared it might not survive in the wild. The North American water snake grows to around 135cm in length and feed on frogs, fish, small birds and mammals. The danger with a two headed snake is the heads often try to eat each other!
