20 year old Otto, a dachshund cross terrier has been officially named as the World’s Oldest Dog this week by Guinness World of Records.
Otto’s owners Lynn and Peter Jones, from Shrewsbury, submitted him to Guinness last month after hearing of the death of a 21 year old dog from New York called Chanel who previously held the record. But there appears to be an unofficial holder of the title. Otto may be the record holder on Guinness’ books but back in August the World Records Academy named 26 year old Max as the World’s Oldest Dog.
So who are we to believe?
The World Records Academy claim to be the leading international organization which certify world records, but Guinness are almost legendary for recording these types of achievements. So which is the World’s Oldest Dog, Otto or Max?
