19 year old Norwegian Bjorn Halvard Knappskog has become the World Champion Monopoly Player after a dramatic world championship finals took place last night in Las Vegas.

Knappskog defeated 40 other national champions during the competition which began on Wednesday at Caesars Palace hotel and casino in Las Vegas. All the competitors had won national championships and earned the all expenses paid trip to Las Vegas to try their hand at an international level.

The final included Knappskog representing Norway and three other competitors representing America, Russia and New Zealand. America and Russia were the first to face bankruptcy which just left Knappskog and New Zealander Geoff Christopher in the game. The unfortunate Kiwi landed on both Pacific Avenue and North Carolina Avenue in quick succession and he simply couldn’t pay the rent on the hotels Knappskog had built there.

At the end of play Knappskog held $6,888 in cash and assets within the game, but he walked away with $20,580 in real prize money. The figure was determined by the amount of money included in a regular box of Monopoly.
