Brand New Star Wars Trilogy?

The rumour mill is working overtime today with news that George Lucas is planning on making a brand new Star Wars Trilogy in 3D.

MarketSaw claim that they’ve heard from a reliable source that Lucas has been so impressed by James Cameron’s Avatar that he wants a slice of the 3D action. Initial reports claimed that Lucas was considering re-releasing the original trilogy in 3D, but now it is believed he wants to steal Cameron’s thunder by producing a brand new trilogy.

The report also says that Lucas is only planning on producing the films and has approached Steven Spielberg and Francis Ford Coppola to direct the films.

Lucasfilm have categorically denied the rumours, but that hasn’t stopped the buzz escalating.
