Angel sharkA 23 year old man has been attacked by a shark at Edinburgh’s Deep Sea World aquarium.

The BBC report that the man suffered lacerations in the attack and required treatment by paramedics who were called to the scene.

The man was bitten by an angel shark which are 1.5m long and have flattened bodies so they resemble rays. Although they’re not considered aggressive they have been known to attack if accidentally trodden on or handled roughly.

It is not known at this time whether the victim was an employee of Deep Sea World or a visitor on one of their popular shark encounters where guests can dive into the shark tanks and swim with a selection of different species of shark.
