271 people took part in the World’s Biggest Custard Pie Fight in New York on Thursday, breaking the previous record by 18 participants.
The event, which was in aid of charity and was organised by the “Live! With Regis and Kelly” show managed to raise $150,000. The 271 participants managed to throw 15,000 custard pies in one minute.
The event was judged by Stuart Claxton from the Guinness Book of World Records.
“Mass participation records are always quite a challenge,” he said.
“In this case, the guidelines for this record were that the pies had to be a minimum of 6 and a half inches in diameter. The pies had to be thrown for at least one minute and each pie had to be thrown one at a time. The guys today did a great job and we’re just happy to chronicle a new Guinness world record.”
