Sultan Kosen from Turkey has been named as the World’s Tallest Man at the launch of the new Guinness World Records 2010 book.
Kosen measures a remarkable 246.5 centimetres, or 8′ 1″. But the Turkish giant is a lonely one, he’s hoping his new found fame will bring him love.
“The first thing I want to do is have a car that I can fit in, but more than that I want to get married,” Kosen told Press TV.
“Hopefully now that I’m famous I’ll be able to meet lots of girls. I’d like to get married.”
Kosen’s large stature is the result of a brain tumour which affected his pituitary gland and caused the condition known as pituitary gigantism, the exact opposite of pituitary dwarfism. Kosen had the tumour removed last year and has now stopped growing. He is the first person in over a decade to break the eight foot mark.
Kosen says the benefits of being tall include being able to see a long way and it also comes in handy for changing light bulbs and hanging curtains.
