27 year old Hall Hunt broke his own personal record yesterday when he won first place a the Krystal Square Off World Hamburger-Eating Championship qualifying round held in Jacksonville, Fla.

Hunt beat off stiff competition by gobbling up an impressive 65 burgers in under eight minutes. This result means Hunt beat his own personal best of 63 Krystal burgers, but it also means that the number seven ranked competitive eater in the world performed better than Sonya Thomas in her qualifying round.

That means the pressure is on for Sonya “The Black Widow” Thomas when she competes against Hunt in the finals on 27th September.

Hunt has a degree in civil engineering and is a member of MENSA, he is also an accomplished athlete but says his eating skills are down to mental discipline and an academic approach to each different event.
