Chestnut Defeated At Rib Eating Championships

Pat Bertoletti is the man to watch on the competitive eating scene at the moment. The 24 year old from Chicago his hot on the heels of Joey Chestnut as he tries to win the title of number one competitive eater in the International Federation of Competitive Eating rankings.

This week there was something of an upset when Bertoletti beat rib eating record holder Joey Chestnut at the Best in the West Nugget World Rib Eating Championship in Nevada. Chestnut holds the record for rib eating, he munched his way through 9.8 lbs of meat last August to set that record.

But this week Chestnut only managed 5.7 lbs and was narrowly defeated by Bertoletti who guzzled 5.8 lbs or rib meat. Bertoletti walked away with the $2,500 prize money, Chestnut was awarded $1,500 for second place and Erik “The Red” Denmark received $750 for third place.
