Comedians Rory McGrath and Paddy McGuiness have secured a deal to produce a second series of their hit TV show Rory and Paddy’s Great British Adventure.
The show follows the bumbling duo as they travel the length and breadth of this fair isle competing in a number of eccentric and quintessentially British sporting pursuits. In the first series hairy Rory and balding Paddy competed against each other at cheese rolling, shin kicking, bog snorkelling, worm charming and toe wrestling amongst other bizarre events.
Series two will be increased to six parts and promises to include such peculiar events as lawnmower racing, black pudding throwing, hen racing and haggis hurling. This is must see television, it’s absolutely superb.
Channel Five produced last summer’s four part series, which was brilliant and achieved an average of 1.4 million viewers. For this longer series Channel Five have teamed up with UKTV in a special deal which will see the two companies share the production costs.
Hamish Barbour, managing director of production company IWC told U Talk Marketing, “Rory and Paddy’s Even Greater British Adventure is a glorious celebration of the eccentricities that make this country great; the brave, the bizarre and the downright bonkers – but most of all it’s just very, very funny.”
The show will premier on Channel Five later in the year and then be repeated shortly afterwards on UKTV’s subscription channel Blighty. We’ll keep you updated when broadcasting times and dates are confirmed.
