Lucy Lawless’ Merkin

Xena: Warrior Princess star Lucy Lawless has been telling Entertainment Weekly all about her role in the forthcoming TV show Spartacus.

Fans of the New Zealand actress may be thrilled to hear she will be appearing nude in the show, and has shot sex scenes with Scottish actor John Hannah. Hannah is of course known for his many British TV roles and for appearing in The Mummy franchise. Now it appears he will be appearing between Lawless’ legs.

Lawless explains to reporter Michael Ausiello that Spartacus includes her first ever nude scenes, which she found quite daunting. Strangely in a poor attempt to alleviate the actors nudity producers have offered them merkins, which are pubic wigs. That’s kind of like disguising yourself with a mask of your face isn’t it?

Spartacus is described by Lawless as “Gladiator meets 300, for television”.
