Baby Stolen From Mother’s Belly

23 year old Darlene Haynes from Massachusetts was discovered dead by her landlord on Monday, her badly mutilated corpse was stuffed inside her bedroom cupboard and had been there decaying for several days.

The Associated Press reports that at the time of the murder Haynes was eight months pregnant, her severely mutilated body was sliced open at the womb and her unborn child had been removed. The police are now frantically searching for the foetus, which doctors believe could still be alive. There have been several cases in the past where unborn children have been cut from their mother’s wombs and gone on to survive. In 2004 Lisa Montgomery strangled to death Bobbie Jo Stinnett and cut her baby from her belly. The infant survived and Montgomery was later caught trying to pass the baby off as her own.

Haynes cause of death is still undetermined, she did suffer head wounds as well as the knife wounds to her body. Police are treating it as murder but have not yet made any arrests.

Haynes told a friend on Thursday evening that she was entertaining a guest at her home that night.
