Serial killer apprehended in India

A man who killed eight women and raped their dead bodies over a four month period has been caught by police in Southern India.

The 36 year old man, named by the police as Kuppusamy was eventually caught when his ninth victim managed to escape and raise the alarm. Police were able to trace the murderer from the motorcycle he left behind at the scene of the crime. During questioning Kuppusamy confessed to the eight murders under investigation and a further two which had not been reported to the police.

The suspect is described as a loner, he lives with his two wives but has no children to them.

Beginning on 9th April 2009 Kuppusamy is alleged to have strangled to death eight young women and sexually abused their corpses. All his victims had been working alone in fields grazing cattle. If convicted Kuppusamy may be hanged for his crimes.
