Piping The Truth Into Your Brainballs!
Story published on July 26, 2009
A 56 year old man from Michigan was taken into psychiatric care on Friday after police discovered 150 dead dogs packed into freezers in the man’s cellar.
The Associated Press report that there were also 112 live dogs in poor health living in the house. The dogs, mostly chihuahuas were in poor condition and covered in faeces. Police Chief Ronald Haddad told AP that the entire house was filled with rubbish, and soaked in dog urine and faeces.
“The house was in complete disarray, very cluttered and, with 100-plus dogs running around in there, very filthy,” he said.
Neigbours of the man had complained to officials about the smell coming from the property so this week investigators obtained a warrant to enter the home. The investigators needed to wear masks to shield them from the stench of the dog mess as they rescued the animals.
All 112 live dogs have now been taken to the Dearborn Animal Shelter, and concerned residents have donated bags of dog food to help.
