Three Ohio trailer park residents have been arrested today in connection with a child endangerment case.
18 year old Todd C. Trent, 29 year old Tina Gunter and 33 year old Joseph Gunter have all been charged with offenses relating to the horrific mutilation of a six week old girl. The unnamed child is reported to be recovering in hospital after being found covered in rat bites on her back and legs. 10tv News report that two of the girl’s toes were completely gnawed off by persistent rat attacks.
Pike County Prosecutor Rob Junk told 10TV News they were treating the matter as very serious.
“It’s one of the most horrific things I’ve ever seen. I hope we never see anything like this again.”
“I’ve seen autopsy photos of people that have died from bullet wounds, stab wounds, and things like that. They weren’t nearly as hard to look at the photos of the infant in this case,” he said.
Police raided the trailer home on Sunday after an anonymous tip off, the injuries to the baby suggest that the rodent attacks were an ongoing problem and nothing had been done to protect the child from further attacks.
Trent isn’t the father of the child, but is the mother’s boyfriend. The Gunters are not related to the child or the mother but were staying at the trailer. Police say all adults living at the trailer are under scrutiny.
