23 year old Nicolas Grunke has been found guilty of theft, damage to property and attempted third degree sexual assault, KCRG reports.
In September 2006 Grunke, along with his twin brother Alexander and their friend Dustin Radke drove to the Cassville cemetery in Wisconsin where they interfered with the grave of recently deceased Laura Tennessen. Laura had died the previous month in a motorbike accident.
When they appeared in court this week Nicholas Grunke and Dustin Radke gave conflicting accounts of what their intentions were. In February Radke pleaded guilty to charges of attempting to dig up a corpse with the intention of having sex with it, but Nicholas Grunke denies the charge and says he merely wanted to pose with the corpse.
Radke appeared in the witness stand yesterday to give evidence against his friend and insisted that Nicholas Grunke had often spoke of necrophilia and fully intended to have sexual intercourse with Laura Tennessen’s remains.
He told the court: “Nick said numerous times over the years how he’d love to have sex with a dead body because he wouldn’t want to have a woman to come home to holler at, or complain or nag at him. And he said that more than once.”
Grunke denied the allegations insisting he only wanted a platonic relationship with the dead girl.
“I was going to take it to a clearing in the woods and just kind of spend time with it….(ok, but not have sex with it?) No.” He told the court.
Grunke’s twin brother Alexander has already been convicted of attempted theft and vandalism, but not sexual assault. Dustin Radke is yet to stand trial.
