A woman from North Carolina has paid $4,000 (£2,500) for a puppy with five legs, so it didn’t have to go to a Coney Island freak show.
45 year old Allyson Siegel heard that the six week old chihuahua/terrier cross was bound for a freak show owned by John Strong, Strong had already offered $3,000 for the dog and had even laid a deposit on it. No, not that kind of deposit a monetary deposit of $1,000 up front.
Siegel read that the dog’s owner Calvin Owensby had excepted Strong’s offer, so she contacted him and increased the offer by a full $1,000.
“I called Calvin and I said, ‘I understand this is about money,’ and I just said, ‘How much,’” Siegel told the New York Daily News yesterday.
“She is beautiful, she’s not a freak, she’s a normal little puppy dog and she should be just like all the others,” Siegel said.
Siegel has named the dog Lilly, and has made an appointment with a veterinary surgeon to have the extra limb removed.
