Doctor Who star David Tennant is being tipped as the brand new Bilbo Baggins in the forthcoming Hobbit films.
Geoff Boucher of the Los Angeles Times has been speculating that the actors appearance at this years San Diego Comic Con is set to coincide with Peter Jackson’s appearance and subsequent announcement of who will play Bagins in the new movies.
Speaking yesterday Boucher said: “David Tennant just happens to be making his very first trip to the San Diego expo to promote Doctor Who, a television series that he will soon be leaving behind. Peter Jackson, the producer of the two-film Hobbit series that begins its theatre run in 2011, is also slated to appear this year, and, well you can see the dot-connecting possibilities. …
“I think Tennant would be exceptional in the role.”
Tennant is now said to be favourite for the part, but other names that have been linked to the role include James McAvoy, Daniel Radcliffe and Jack Black.
At The Morningstarr* we still think Ian Holm should come back.
